You will need fresh ginger from a garden center, well draining, very rich potting soil.
For the pot, use one that is wide and shallow. This is important since ginger roots grow horizontally.
Once you’re ready to grow your ginger supply, just follow these 5 easy steps:
1. Soak the ginger root overnight.
2. Fill your pot with the soil and place your ginger root in it with the eye buds pointing up.
Cover the roots with 1-2 inches of soil.
3. Water well.
4. Place the pot in a reasonably warm area that is shaded from the sun.
5. Keep the pot moist with a spray bottle. Ginger grows slowly, and it will take several weeks before you see shoots.
